Caring for your Intimate Area After Sex
As women, we know the importance of taking care of our bodies, especially our intimate areas. Sex doesn't have to be unpleasant and painful. Here at Dr. Wolff's V-san, we want you to feel your best. So, after sex, it's important to pay extra attention to our vaginal health.
Sex Can Cause Unpleasant Symptoms
- Micro-tears in the vaginal walls that may increase your risk of infection
- Change the balance of your pH in your intimate areas due to bodily fluids, like saliva and semen or the use of some lubricants. The change in pH can allow the delicate balance of bacteria to get out of whack and possibly lead to a bacterial infection.
- The extra friction can cause irritation and dryness not only internally but also in the external areas.
Here are a few tips for you to help your intimate area feel fresh and clean all the time, as well as helping to prevent vaginal infections.
- Wash the outer pubic area daily with water and/or a mild cleansing lotion. The Dr Wolff's V-san Intimate Wash Lotion is suitable for all women: across all age groups, during pregnancy, during your period or as part of therapy for a vaginal infection
- Pat yourself dry thoroughly after cleaning
- Wear breathable cotton briefs and change them daily to allow the area to breath. Synthetic fabrics and tight clothing can cause the area to become hot and sweaty, a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.
- Change towels and washcloths regularly as the damp fabric is a good breeding ground for germs. Wash underwear, washcloths, and towels regularly at 60 degrees or more to help kill the bacteria that may breed on them
- Use soft but sturdy toilet paper or a bidet to prevent anything from being left behind in that area after using the toilet.
- Ensure your Vagina is moist before engaging in sexual intercourse, using a product like Dr. Wolff's V-san Moisturising Cream can help prevent micro tears caused by dryness and friction.
- If you are susceptible to infections try using a product like Dr. Wolff's V-san Lactic Acid to help rebalance the pH in your vagina to help prevent bacteria overgrowth.
We're here to support you in your journey toward optimal intimate health.
